Diána Vonnák Co-Organised Symposium on War Documentation and Narratives in Lviv

Our postdoctoral researcher Diána Vonnák contributed to the organization of the symposium “The Most Documented War: Polyphony of Stories,” held in Lviv from 4–6 June 2026. The symposium brought together researchers, archivists, cultural practitioners, and documentation initiatives to reflect on how war experiences are recorded, narrated, archived, and made public.

As part of the programme committee, Diána participated in shaping the intellectual direction and structure of the event. She also moderated the roundtable discussion “The Power to Speak: Narratives and Audiences” on 4 June, which explored questions of who gets to speak in times of war, how narratives circulate across different publics, and how audiences shape the meanings and afterlives of wartime testimony.

The symposium formed part of the broader The Most Documented War initiative, which creates a space for dialogue between documentation projects, researchers, and institutions working on the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine and its archival, ethical, and political challenges.

Through this contribution, MEMPOP continues its engagement with questions of memory, narration, and the politics of representation in contemporary Europe.
